Quick answer: Men in Newport Beach, Corona del Mar and Costa Mesa with an enlarged prostate can have prostate artery embolization (PAE) as an outpatient procedure about 20 minutes away at our Fountain Valley office — no hospital stay, no cutting, and a return to normal activity within days.
The Orange County office is located at 10900 Warner Avenue, Suite 101A, Fountain Valley, CA 92708 (Pacific Coast Multi Specialty Surgery building). Call (310) 929-0026 or request an appointment. Telehealth consultations are available for Orange County patients.
PAE treats the urinary symptoms of BPH — night-time urination, weak stream, urgency — by shrinking the prostate from the inside: a catheter placed through the wrist or groin blocks the small arteries that feed it.
Compared with TURP and other surgical options it avoids general anesthesia and a catheter-dependent hospital stay, and carries a lower rate of retrograde ejaculation; symptom relief builds over 4–12 weeks. See how it compares in PAE vs TURP and PAE vs UroLift, Rezūm and Aquablation.
It is a good fit for men with a prostate over about 40 g, for men on blood thinners, and for men who want to keep sexual function or who have been told their prostate is too large for office-based devices.
Men qualify for PAE when an enlarged prostate is causing moderate-to-severe urinary symptoms that medication has not controlled or that they cannot tolerate, the prostate is enlarged on ultrasound or MRI, and there is no active urinary infection or unresolved prostate-cancer question. Candidacy is confirmed at a consultation with Dr. Nathanael Sabbah, interventional radiologist.
Candidacy is confirmed at a consultation; the usual starting points are:

Expect three steps: a consultation (in person or by telehealth) that reviews your PSA, imaging and symptom score; a procedure visit at 10900 Warner Ave, Suite 101A, lasting one to two hours under local anesthetic and light sedation, with same-day discharge; and a recovery of a few days, with symptom improvement building over the following weeks.

No — consultations and procedures for Newport Beach patients are at our Fountain Valley office, about 20 minutes away; telehealth consultations are available.
PAE at SoCal Interventional is performed in our outpatient Fountain Valley suite, not in a hospital.
PAE works across a wide range of sizes, including very large glands (over 80–100 g) that are poor candidates for office devices.
Most men go home without a catheter; men who arrive in retention keep theirs for a short trial period.
Drive the next day; flying is fine after a week.
